Shamanic Drum Workshop

Join me for a deeply transformative 1.5-day Shamanic Drum Making Workshop, where you will birth your own sacred medicine drum in powerful ritual and ceremony.

This workshop is more than just crafting a drum—it's a profound journey of self-discovery. As you connect with the spirit of the kangaroo hide and the willow hoop, you’ll also witness how you approach creativity in your life, birthing not only a healing tool but new awareness of yourself.

What to Expect:

Be guided through shamanic journeys to connect with the essence of the materials, and discover the power animal that will help you integrate your drum’s medicine.

Experience the energetic process of cutting, soaking, and birthing your drum, noticing what emotions, insights, and energies arise as part of the process.

Dive into your own personal birthing stories—whether it’s the birth of children, projects, relationships, or other life creations—and use these reflections to deepen your connection to your drum.

We will also create our own drum beaters, so if you feel called, bring a stick from nature that speaks to you!

What You'll Gain:

A completed shamanic medicine drum and beater
Deeper understanding of your creative and birthing processes Insight into your personal journey of healing, transformation, and self-expression
A chance to reconnect with your inner shaman and integrate ancient wisdom into your modern life

Logistics:

All drum-making materials are provided, but feel free to bring any personal items (e.g., an old ugg boot for your drum beater) that resonate with your journey. Please bring something to share for lunch on the Saturday (and for dinner if you are choosing to stay onsite / camp).

This weekend is an opportunity to sit in sacred circle, immerse yourself in ritual, and experience the magic of birthing your own healing tool with the support of like-minded sisters.

From Jen Monk

"When I did the drumming workshop with star I was hesitant as I was coming to it from a place of trauma and grief. But what I walked into was a warm, welcoming and safe place where I left feeling grounded, supported and inspired.
From the opening of the sister circle to the ritual of getting my hide out of the freezing and rejuvenating bath water; to the solice of weaving the hide into my drum to the nourishing food, all while being in my own space on my own journey yet with fellow sisters by my side when and if I needed them.
Since the workshop when I feel unhinged, a grief wave hitting or just generally feeling unconnected to life and the world I live in, I pull my drum down from off the shelf and go outside and just… drum. The sound and vibration of my drum that I birthed soothes me, grounds me and reminds me I am not alone."

Kangaroo medicine reminds us that we can only move forward, not backward, while staying centered and grounded. It includes leaping away from bad situations, creating a safe home environment, protection of the young, ability to adapt to new situations, strength, stamina and balance.

From the kangaroo we can learn to balance our physical existence with our spiritual knowledge. they use their instinct to guide them, and so we are being called to let out instincts guide us. Kangaroos are extremely focused with no room for distractions, their energy reminds us to remain centered and focused, leaping into the unknown without fear and with strength, stamina and power needed to keep moving forward.
